Chad Bates

Chad faces the camera wearing a green coat, with a black hat that has a pair of sunglasses sitting on top of the brim of his hat.

What’s your name and where do you live?
Chad Bates. Bothell, WA.

When did you start listening to TBTL? How did you find the show?
Oct. 17, 2013. I heard Luke on a live episode of the Adam Carolla Show (please don't judge me, I have changed a lot since then), and I remembered hearing Bean Baxter talking about TBTL when it was on KIRO. The first episode was Luke talking to Roger from the Tattletale. I was hooked!

How would your friends describe you?
Quiet until I am not.

What was your favorite cereal when you were a kid? Is it still your fav?
Cookie Crisp. Nope, they ruined it years ago.

What food do you love to eat the most of?
Chicken Parm. It is the best way to determine if an Italian Restaurant is worth a damn! RIP the world's greatest Chicken Parm at Stella's Trattoria in the U-District.

What’s the best or worst nickname you ever had?
My best friend growing up has always called me Norm, as in Norm from Cheers. Which is funny because I am much more Cliff Clavin, I was just a fat kid.

If you could play one song on TBTL, what would it be?
Heavenbound by DC Talk. I have always wanted to deep dive into Contemporary Christian Music with Luke, and this and Petra are my starting points. Once the dam breaks, it might take a week of episodes to finish though.

What’s a special skill you have that you’re most proud of?
I don't know about proud, but maybe less shame? I can create and host a great pub trivia night. I try to thread the needle of making it hard enough to make it a challenge, but easy enough to keep the whole bar engaged in the game. I also want to pull in enough funny items to make the room laugh a couple times!

What’s a special skill that you *wish* you had?
I always wish I could just learn languages. My wife's family is German and we love to travel, but when we go to non-English speaking countries, I get really anxious because I can't speak the language.

If you were driving down the street and you saw Luke and Andrew on the sidewalk, what would you yell at them as you drove past?
“Get in dummies, we're going to Arby's!”

Can other Tens find you on social media?
For the Eagle Soarers in the crowd, I am on Strava. I also sporadically post pictures on Instagram.
