Arlen Horst
What’s your name and where do you live?
Arlen Horst. Seattle, near Carkeek Park.
When did you start listening to TBTL? How did you find the show?
Kind of by accident. I listened to KIRO pre-TBTL. I was a big fan of Mike Webb and -- to a much, much lesser extent -- Frank "Here comes the sausage fest" Shires, since my main radio listening window was weeknights. Then, when Luke and Jen and Sean began TBTL, it was just the right time and frequency and je ne sais quoi for me to get hooked.
How would your friends describe you?
Too nice for my own good; an honest guy, but a bit weird. (Also, if they were aware of the Burbank family propagation protocol, they'd say at age 63-and-a-half, I'm old enough to be Luke's father!)
What was your favorite cereal when you were a kid? Is it still your fav?
As a kid I lusted for Cap’n Crunch, but now I prefer Whole Grain Cheerios mixed with Bob's Red Mill granola with a splash of unsweetened almond milk
What food do you love to eat the most of?
Any kind of Cheese (sorry, Andrew). My favorite snack is an Amber Ale with a varied cheese selection with 2 or 3 types of crackers.
What’s the best or worst nickname you ever had?
The worst was “Secretariat.” I was called that in 9th grade due to my last name and the above named horse having won the Triple Crown.
If you could play one song on TBTL, what would it be?
Lara's Theme from Dr. Zhivago. But it has to be the mandolin version! (Refer to “weird” comment above.)
What’s a special skill you have that you’re most proud of?
I'm a decent juggler. I can can do three balls and a couple of dumb party tricks
What’s a special skill that you *wish* you had?
I wish I could get my old cat to regularly take his meds, for cripes' sake!
If you were driving down the street and you saw Luke and Andrew on the sidewalk, what would you yell at them as you drove past?
“Two Bros, bro-ing it up!!”
