Dave Bledsoe
What’s your name and where do you live?
Dave Bledsoe. NEW YORK CITY?!?!
When did you start listening to TBTL? How did you find the show?
A long, long time ago, I can still remember when Mike Pesca interviewed this podcast guy. I knew if I had my choice, I would listen to those co-bro's voices and maybe I would be happy for a while. Long tangent short, since about 2014 after hearing Luke on The Gist.
How would your friends describe you?
Douglas Adams wrote this about Zaphod Beeblebrox in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: "Zaphod is just this guy, you know?". This needlessly obscure reference is referenced because this is how most of my friends would reply: "Dave is just this guy, you know?" And that is me in a nutshell.
What was your favorite cereal when you were a kid? Is it still your fav?
Despite the vaguely problematic Irish stereotype, "pink hearts, yellow moons, orange stars, and green clovers" still have my heart. They are nothing but little sugar lumps, but they speak to my quasi-Gaelic soul. And no, I haven't had breakfast cereal in 40 years.
What food do you love to eat the most of?
I was born in the mountains of East Tennessee, so my palate has never been refined. I've tasted squirrel, deer, bear and even possum. To this day, given my druthers, my menu is little different than what my granny would have served from her stove up the holler.
What’s the best or worst nickname you ever had?
My father joined the military when I was 11, then I joined the military at 18, so my LAST name was my only name for most of my early life. Still, for one brief and shining moment in 1986 I was given the moniker "Diamond Dave" after Van Halen's David Lee Roth. I was NOTHING like Diamond Dave then and less like him now. But I am still trying to make "Diamond Dave" happen.
If you could play one song on TBTL, what would it be?
After giving it much thought, I have chosen the Divinyls’ I Touch Myself for the simple reason of I feel it would make Andrew slightly uncomfortable.
What’s a special skill you have that you’re most proud of?
I've been doing my own podcart for 8 years, 400 episodes. After much work and experience, I am FINALLY at the point where I don't feel "less shame" about it and am actually kind of proud of it.
What’s a special skill that you *wish* you had?
That's easy, singing and dancing like David Lee Roth.
If you were driving down the street and you saw Luke and Andrew on the sidewalk, what would you yell at them as you drove past?
Seeing as I haven't had a car or a driver's license in 20 years (see living in NYC) it would probably be "OH GOD GET OUT OF THE WAY I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THIS THING WILL GO!!!
Can other Tens find you on social media? If so, how?
