Stephanie Lee
What’s your name and where do you live?
Stephanie Lee. Brooklyn, NY.
When did you start listening to TBTL? How did you find the show?
In 2009 after my then-boyfriend introduced me to this thing called "podcasts." NPR was my gateway drug, so I probably heard Luke on Wait Wait and then had a listen to TBTL.
How would your friends describe you?
Organized, thoughtful, a little to the side of silly, and never cuts corners. I love knitting, popcorn, dogs, jigsaw puzzles, word puzzles, and was once called the Eddie van Halen of spreadshee.
What was your favorite cereal when you were a kid? Is it still your fav?
Cracklin' Oat Bran. I know it has bran in the name but no worries, sugar is the second ingredient. I started making my own greek-style yogurt around 20 years ago, so it's been a while since I cracklin' it up.
What food do you love to eat the most of?
At the moment I'm on a real kick for chocolate chia seed pudding. But vanilla ice cream is always and forever and Chex Mix for any road trip.
What’s the best or worst nickname you ever had?
Step On Me. A boy in my kindergarten class couldn't make "f" sounds and that's what he settled on.
If you could play one song on TBTL, what would it be?
At my last haircut the salon was playing Laura Branigan singing Gloria. It was hard to stay still in my chair for my stylist!
What’s a special skill that you have?
I recently learned how to use plumbers putty and teflon tape to fix the leak under my sink! A hearty thanks to the plumbers of America who make videos for YouTube.
What’s a skill you *wish* you had?
I wish I was better at telling stories. I inevitably put in too many details, get sidetracked, and lose everyone's interest before I get to my big punchline at the end.
If you were driving down the street and you saw Luke and Andrew on the sidewalk, what would you yell at them as you drove past?
I really wish I'd say "Is it too early to get a fish sandwich?" But in truth, I'd probably chicken out. I say that because I once saw Chris Hayes eating breakfast at an outdoor table at a diner in my neighborhood in central Brooklyn. I was out walking my dog and Chris was there with another person, and I *really* wanted to ask him that very question. What did I end up saying? Nothing! I said nothing. Sigh.
Can other Tens find you on social media? If so, how?
I'm not much for the socials except for LinkedIn if you count that, but you can find my free weekly newsletter of my tax prep / financial coaching business at my website, Frequently Taxed Questions.
